Executive Board Position Descriptions

PRESIDENT: Work with and provide support to PTA Chairs for all Committees. Work with school staff when planning PTA calendars and events. Represent parent and community conferences with staff. Conduct monthly PTA meetings. Support programs, initiatives, and activities, which continue to enrich our children’s education through the years. Ensure that proper training is available to all volunteers. In charge of PTA newsletter.

VICE PRESIDENT, ADMINISTRATION: Work with Board to manage the administrative tasks for the year, such as the website, directory, volunteer coordinator, Giant bulletin board, staff appreciation, 5th grade ceremonies, email blasts, etc. Maintains the PTA Calendar. Serves as the liaison with committees that fall under the Administration.

VICE PRESIDENT, FUNDRAISING: Work with Board to develop fundraising plan for the year. Oversees the planning of fundraising events throughout the year. Serves as the liaison with committees that fall under the fundraising.

VICE PRESIDENT, PROGRAMS: Oversees the planning of community programs, such as the Fall Festival, Variety Show, etc. Serves as the liaison with committees that fall under the Programs.

VICE PRESIDENT, ENRICHMENT: Works with Board and school staff to determine appropriate extra-curricular programs to support student needs and interests, and cultural events. Coordinates service projects. Serves as the liaison with committees that fall under the after school activities and enrichment.

RECORDING SECRETARY: Attends every scheduled PTA meeting, take notes, and produce minutes for distribution and posting to our website. Ensures the By-Laws are current.

TREASURER: Record deposits for PTA membership and programs, process payments for PTA expenditures, maintain accurate and complete records for PTA financial transactions, and serve as liaison with banks. Must work with many Committee chairs. Responsible for the preparation of monthly financial statements/reports and all federal and state tax filings. Some prior financial background is helpful for those considering this position.

MCCPTA/CLUSTER REP: Attend periodic meetings of the Wootton Cluster, representing Lakewood, when issues impacting our cluster are addressed and report back to our Board at Lakewood PTA meetings.
